Abuse

Once again men everywhere are given a bad rep. Sure there are men who are abusive, this has been proven. But, "MEN" are not abusive! People, both men and women alike have been guilty of abuse. To this day when people think of abuse they think of a violent man. This has to change. Women who are abused shouldn't stand behind abused women. They need to stand behind victims everywhere by sending a message to people that abuse is wrong and that nobody should put up with it. Far too often men go without reporting their abuse. It is because of this, "The Facts" (Based on statistics) are false. I hope that people one day will begin to understand that each person is an individual, therefore people cannot be placed into categories such as gender, race, or class. A woman is just as capable of abusing a man as a man is abusing a woman. A man is just as capable of being abused as a woman is. Abuse is wrong regardless.

As a male victim of abuse, I feel it is my responsibility to speak on behalf of men. Men, when abused suffer much more because nobody seems to care. Men are more likely to take the fall even though they were in fact the victims.Often men are ashamed to admit even to themselves, that they are being abused. Men believe they can defend themselves, which often leads to them being arrested.

It is time to treat people equally as individuals.
