In this post I want to discuss the issue of legalizing marijuana. I have spent a lot of time on YouTube watching news clips, and debates. Not only are a vast majority of people in favor of legalizing pot, but I have yet to hear a logical argument against it.
One argument that was on my mind was, where does it stop? If we legalize Marijuana, are Mushrooms, Crank, Coke, and Heroine next? Well that too was answered for me. How many people have lost their lives because of Marijuana? The Answer from those against legalizing pot have said, none. That in itself makes a valuable argument that it stops with pot.
Next there was the argument that crime would increase. This is where I said What! Are you serious? Many people use pot to prevent themselves from creating violent crimes. It relaxes people who are naturally violent and irritable, and it also brings people together peacefully. Not to mention the fact that less people will be arrested for Marijuana, because Marijuana will be legal.
It was also said that drug use would increase. Wrong! I am a perfect example. Instead of taking highly addictive Hydrocodone, A lot of Tylenol, and antidepressants I could smoke pot. It may help me quit smoking, and possibly stay away from alcohol. The reason I say it may possibly, is because that is what I turn to because of stress. Now add all the side effects together of every legal thing I take vs. Marijuana. Which is safer, healthier, and less being only one thing?
I may be wrong, But I really think that good things would come from the legalization of Marijuana. I am not A "Pot Head" I do not use Marijuana for recreational use. I have a Family. I cannot afford to jeopardize my role as a father by being placed in jail for drug charges. I am just an average law abiding American. I am for legalization.
